Competition: Barclay’s Premiership 2013/14
Result: Crystal Palace 1 v 4 Fulham
Pie: Chicken and Mushroom
Price: £4.00 (Plus a free cup of tea)
Comments:An early autumn evening in South London. Perfect pie opportunity linked to bottom of the table Premiership clash between newly promoted Crystal Palace and those poor away travellers Fulham – both managers jobs potentially on the line.
So to the pie. According to the sign at the food kiosk it’s locally made by Goddards. It doesn’t come with that terrible plastic covering that half the pies on sale at other grounds are surrounded with. Initial view – promising – flakey pastry with nice brown crispy top. Four choices of pie on offer – but opt for the Chicken and Mushroom. Inside good texture, slightly spicy and good consistency. Plenty of solid chicken – which nearly choked on as Palace take the lead in the opening 10 mins.
Pie over the match swings back to a comfortable win for Fulham courtesy of two glorious goals from Kasami (must be a goal of the season contender) and Sidwell. Two further goals just after half time see Fulham pull off a rare and emphatic away win.
Pie summary – pretty decent and solid offering, helped by being priced at £4.00 but including a free cup of tea – now that’s a deal!! – Nick Smith
